Treatment 2 - June 8

I'm sorry updates have been so quiet but it's actually been nice dropping a couple of responsibilities for a couple of weeks. I've also just been focused on how John feels: appetite, strength, and pain. These three-weeks have given us a pretty good idea of how he's going to feel until the end of the year.

Tomorrow is John's second treatment and it will be "only" 4-hours. Now we know the routine, the drive, and the accommodations so there's a little less stress. It will still be a long day.

The three-weeks since the last treatment have had it's ups and downs.

I would say about 50% of the time John didn't feel well. Probably 25% he felt dreadful. There were days he was so exhausted it looked like an effort to walk across the room. Other days he felt good enough to power wash the deck!

He still struggles with his appetite; this is the most frustrating side affect. He's also beginning to identify some of the stomach discomfort is really nausea.

John has three different anti-nausea meds; they were actually described to us sort like the first, second, and third line of defenses. He has never had to take anything more than the first med so, even though the nausea is there, he is able to control it very well.

He also had some days with a lot of pain, particularly under his left arm. This is a location we've suspected all along has some enlarged nodes even though none were found with palpation. Other than the cough, this area has been the most painful.

The good news is he's been sleeping so much better! What a relief.

Since the day is short tomorrow, I should be able to give an update on how the day went. I hope these updates are comforting and help you feel informed.

The Last Chemo Appointment!
